Best busy mom tip? Organize your closet.
Do you have too many clothes in your closet? Let’s take a look at how this affects your day-to-day life.
If your closet is overstuffed, it’s very stressful every time you walk in it. Even though it’s full of clothes, you feel like you have nothing to wear. It’s hard to see what you do have. You may have duplicate pieces. In short, it’s an overwhelming experience — multiple times per day.
I spend most of my working hours in other people’s closets. And I will share this truth with you: when a closet is overloaded, it’s too much for the owner to sort out alone. That’s why hiring an organizer is absolutely worth the investment.
We start by purging clothes that you no longer wear. (Pro tip: create a “maybe” pile, and at the end, it’ll be easier for you to part with most of it.) If you want to keep clothes that don’t fit now, they go elsewhere.
Next, we sort the clothes into categories that work for you. And then we put the most frequently worn items in the spot that is the easiest to access.
We follow the same process for accessories and shoes. And of course, there’s always a need to throw in a couple of cute containers from The Container Store. And I often add bling too; family photos and other cool décor.
Every client whose closet I’ve organized is absolutely overjoyed with the result. Think about it for a minute. Instead of having angst every time you walk in your closet, you would have peace. It would be easy to choose your outfits. It would be easy to maintain order long-term.
And I can also promise you this: once it’s done, you’ll wonder why you waited so long to do it.
